LITTLE ROCK — In a new ad running in Arkansas’s 2nd Congressional District, a former supporter of incumbent Congressman French Hill gives her powerful healthcare testimony in which she condemns Hill’s vote against critical protections for pre-existing conditions.
“I did not think that I was going to go to sleep one night and wake up the next morning and find out I had cancer,” Elizabeth of Little Rock, Arkansas says in the ad.
Elizabeth says she voted for Congressman Hill before. After her cancer diagnosis and watching Congress vote for the American Health Care Act, which would have removed vital protections for those with pre-existing conditions, she will be supporting Democratic challenger Clarke Tucker in the upcoming midterms. A young cancer survivor himself, Tucker has made protections for pre-existing conditions a focal point of his campaign.
“I voted for French Hill,” Elizabeth says in the ad. “And then the House voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act. They chose to celebrate in the Rose Garden. That is not protecting pre-existing conditions. Absolutely not.”
